Dr. Cheryl Adkins

Veterinarian

Dr. Adkins is originally from St. Louis, MO.  She moved down to Fort Smith, AR in 2008 after graduating Veterinary School from the University of Missouri-Columba.  She worked in Fort Smith for 14 years before moving to Anderson, MO.  She occasionally still works at the Fort Smith Animal Emergency clinic, but the majority of her time working is spent at the NWA Animal Urgent Care.  Dr. Adkins, her husband, and 3 children live with a small menagerie of pets: 2 dogs, 4 cats, 5 ferrets, 6 parakeets, 2 guinea pigs, and 1 hedgehog.  In her spare time she enjoys reading, art projects, rockhounding, and hiking.

Staff

Amanda - practice manager

Amanda has worked in vet med for 12 years. She has experience in general practice and ER medicine. Amanda chose to work in vet med to follow her passion to help animals. She has worked many years volunteering with local rescues and has worked on K9 Search and Rescue Training. In her free time, she loves taking her dogs on a hike, camping trips, and spending time with her family. She is the proud fur mom of 2 cats, 5 dogs, and 1 horse.

Wyatt - veterinary assistant

I’ve had a soft spot for animals since I was 10, and it didn’t take long for me to dive headfirst into emergency veterinary medicine—because who wouldn’t want to save lives while being surrounded by cute, furry chaos? I’m all about helping animals in any way I can, whether it’s at work or at home. Speaking of home, I’m the proud owner of two wild boys—Alfie, the Aussie with more energy than a caffeinated squirrel, and Milo, the Golden Retriever who thinks he’s a lap dog, despite his size. Oh, and let’s not forget Ginny, my horse, who keeps me grounded… when she’s not trying to eat the fence.

Andrea - veterinary assistant

Andrea has dreamed of being a veterinarian for as long as she can remember. She has worked in vet med for about 3 years now. She started in general practice and has recently switched to urgent care to expand her experience and help people and animals through their toughest days. She is currently working towards veterinary school and values every day that she gets to work with animals in the meantime. She currently has two fur babies, Cedar the GSD mix and Garfield, the orange kitty of course!

Allyonna - Customer Service Representative

Allyonna is new to the veterinary field, but not at all new to owning pets! Having had pets her whole life, she doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. She currently has 4 rats, 3 dogs, 1 cat, 1 hamster, and 6 fish, whom she loves very dearly. She is eager to learn and help however she can. She is happy to welcome you and your pets as the first face you see in Northwest Arkansas Animal Urgent Care.

Erika - Customer Service Representative

I’ve been working in veterinary medicine for three years, starting in general practice before moving into urgent care. With over 10 years of customer service experience, I love helping both pets and their people through all kinds of situations.

At home, I’ve got a full house with two kids, two dogs, and two cats (because why stop at just one of anything?). I grew up surrounded by animals, so it’s no surprise that I ended up in a field where I get to care for them every day.

When I’m not at work, you can usually find me hiking, hanging out at the lake, spending time with family, or cheering on my favorite sports teams. Whether it’s outdoors, at a game, or relaxing at home, I’m all about making the most of every moment!
